Tiny implants could give humans self-healing superpowers
A new military-sponsored program is aspiring to create a little device to implant in the human body that will use electrical impulses to monitor the body's organs. This would heal these vital body parts if they ever become infected. The program is known as Electrical Prescriptions, ElectRx. It may reduce dependency on pharmaceutical drugs and construct new and better ways to diagnose, monitor, and treat injury and illness. The branch of the United States Department of Defense that is responsible for developing the program is the Defense Advanved Research Project Agency (DARPA). The device would be so small that it could be injected by a needle. If DARPA would be successful, it could also hopefully lead to the creation of implants that aid in treatments to help brain and mental-health disorders.
